Everything is in place for the Monte Gordo Race Experience to begin between today and Sunday on the sandy beach of Monte Gordo, in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António. Monte Gordo began welcoming drivers and their teams this Friday for the final round of the FIM Sand Races World Cup.
“The machines have already completed the usual technical and administrative checks that took place yesterday afternoon at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Center and are already in the closed park, ready to face the races in which the world titles in the respective categories will be decided.”
A first in Portugal, the Monte Gordo Sand Experience follows on from the two stages already held in France and Argentina – Enduro del Verano and Enduropale du Touquet. The competition, which brings together more than a hundred riders, including the best in the world and several national champions, will take place on Monte Gordo beach, on a 5-kilometer course.
This new competition, run under the auspices of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and the Portuguese Motorcycling Federation (FMP), is organized by the Automóvel Clube de Portugal team. The event kicks off today (18) at 11:00 am with the motorcycle race: 1h30 for the M, MD and MJ2 classes and a 30/45 minute race for the MJ1, CL1 and CL2 classes. At 1:30 p.m., the 1-hour quad race takes place: classes Q, QD and QJ.
Tomorrow, Sunday (19), the motorcycle race will take place at 12 noon, with the same duration for the different classes, and at 2:30 p.m. the quad competition. The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for 16:30.
With more than a hundred riders taking part, including the best in the world and several national champions, the Monte Gordo Sand Experience promises to be an exciting spectacle. The 5-kilometer course on Monte Gordo beach will offer a unique challenge for drivers and spectators alike.
